This is an exterior stucco wall that has been treated with a colored sealer to give a mottled appearance. Mottling or antiquing stucco is getting very popular and can be used over both cement-lime stucco and acrylic finishes. The stain tends to leave a sheen on the wall – and never quite matches the look of cement and lime weathered over time. Antiquing or staining always looks like an imitation of the real thing. Although it is certainly popular in residential projects it is probably more appropriate for commercial work, trendy restaurants and Las Vegas.
