Expansion Joints

This a wall with vertical and horizontal expansion joints in critical light. The appearance of the stucco at the joints may be because of the cement panels shrinking or improper fastening of the metal trims. There are two different methods of lathing for metal trim and wire. One system calls for continuous wire and wire tying the trims in. The other calls for installing the trims and cutting the wire and fastening the wire on either side of the trims. With this (the second) method there must be studs as backing for attachment of the trims. Check the contact information in our FAQ section for the Northwest Walls and Ceilings Association and contact them for information on the proper method for your project.
