Base A Medium

Description:
Exterior Stucco Finish is a blend of color controlled portland cements, lime and clean graded aggregates.  The product is available integrally colored or available as a base and color pack system.  Two bases are used with color packages.  The bases are designated A and B.

Packaging:
Exterior Stucco Finish is packaged in 90lb / 40.82 kg bags (Rio Grande Stucco packages Exterior Stucco in 80lb/ 36.28 kg)

Benefits:
Exterior Stucco Finish provides a cost effective, low maintenance coating for all portland cement substrates.
Exterior Stucco Finish provides a variety of colors and textures.
Exterior Stucco Finish is an integral part of a conventional plaster one-hour fire assembly.

Sand Blends:
Coarse: Used for a heavy skip trowel, sand or dash finishes.  Coarse sands add greater depth and shadowing to stucco textures.
Medium: Used for medium skip troweled textures, lighter sand finishes and semi-smooth southwestern textures.
Fine: Used for semi-smooth or smooth finishes.  (Cracks and uneven color are often a problem with smooth finishes.  These characteristics must always be discussed with the consumer before proceeding.)

Coverage:
Coverage will vary due to sand blend and desired texture. Use the following coverage estimates based on our medium aggregate and 90 lb bag as a general guideline. Estimate approximately 10% less coverage for an 90 lb bag:
Sand Float – 12 to 15 square yards
Skip trowel – 10 to 12 square yards
Machine Dash – 6 to 8 square yards

Mixing Premixed Exterior Stucco:
Add enough water for one sack to the mixer.  Add the first sack of finish to the water in the mixer and allow the sack to mix for approx 5 minutes.  Add each additional sack to the mixer by adding half the required water first - then the sack – then the remaining water.  Do not over thin the mix.  Add the final sack to the batch, adding enough water to bring the complete batch to a working consistency.  Allow the complete batch to mix for 15 to 20 minutes after the last sack has been added.

Mixing Base and Color Pak:
Add enough water for one sack to the mixer.    Add the first sack of finish to the water in the mixer and all the color paks for the batch.

Application:
Exterior Stucco Finish shall be applied by hand or machine application to a finished thickness of 1/16 to 1/8 inch.
1.Hand Application over portland cement base- Prior to application of Exterior Stucco Finish, the base coat shall be sprayed with clean water to control and equalize water absorption
2.Machine Application over portland cement base - Base coat shall be dry. (It is not necessary to spray the base coat before application of Exterior Stucco Finish by machine, as the compound itself has ample moisture when mixed for this purpose.) Spray the first coat in a thin consistency over the dry surface and cover base coat completely.

After first coat has dried, which may take two or more hours depending on climatic conditions, spray second coat in a thicker consistency and bring to the desired texture. Second coat may be sprayed the following day.
