Description:
Premium Acrylic Finish PW Formula (PW) is a high-quality, integrally colored, 100% acrylic finish offered in five textures. These textures are available in a single base to help achieve the desired color.
Uses:
PAF PW is specifically designed to provide texture and color over Portland cement-based plaster, cast-on-site, pre-cast concrete and concrete masonry units. PAF PW is also suitable for EIFS Finishes.
Coverage:
All coverages are approximate and depend on the substrate, details, and individual application techniques. The finishes are shipped in five-gallon pails.
-
Super Fine PW: 130-150 sq. ft. approximately.
-
Fine PW: 110-130 sq. ft. approximately.
-
Medium PW: 100-120 sq. ft. approximately.
-
Coarse PW: 80-100 sq. ft. approximately.
Texture:
-
Super Fine PW: Can be troweled or sprayed followed by floating to obtain a larger, uniform aggregate texture without rills.
-
Fine PW: Can be troweled or sprayed followed by floating to obtain uniform sand-type texture.
-
Medium PW: Can be troweled or sprayed followed by floating to obtain uniform larger size sand-type texture.
-
Coarse PW: Is developed by trowel application of a uniform, smooth application over the substrate, followed by random-area trowel applications of material with or without trowel knockdown/stipple effects. This texture is not floated and produces effects similar to traditional stucco textures.
Properties:
Drying Time – Drying of the finish is dependent on the air temperature, relative humidity, and coating thickness. Under average drying conditions [21 °C (70°F), 55% R.H.], protect work from rain for at least 24 hours.

Surface Burning:
(ASTM E-84) – Pass. < 25 Flame Spread. < 450 Smoke Developed.
Water Vapor Transmission:
(ASTM E-96) – Pass. 28 Days.
Accelerated Weathering:
(ASTM G-154) – Pass. Weatherometer, Test Method 1, BH apparatus for 2000 hrs exposure.

Freeze-Thaw Resistance:
(ASTM-2485) – Pass. 60 Cycles. No deleterious effects.
Mildew Resistance:
(ASTM D-3273) – Pass. No growth @ 28 Days.
Salt Spray Resistance:
(ASTM B-117) – Pass. 300 hours exposure. No deleterious effects.
Water Resistance:
(ASTM D -2247) – Pass. 14 Days. No deleterious effects.
Abrasion Resistance:
(ASTM D-698) – 528 Qts. Sand. No cracking, checking, or loss of film integrity @ 528 Qts.
Application Procedure:
Job Conditions - Air and surface temperature for application of finishes must be 4°C (40 °F) or higher and must remain so for a minimum of 24 hours. At the time of product application, the air and wall surface temperature shall be from 4°C (40 °F) minimum to 38°C (100°F) maximum. Do not apply PAF if air and wall surface temperatures are not within the stated parameters.
Temporary Protection - Shall be provided at all times until the primer, finish and permanent flashings, sealants, etc. are completed to protect the wall from weather and other damage.
Surface Preparation:
Surfaces must not be below 4 °C (40 °F) or painted and must be clean, dry, structurally sound and free of efflorescence, grease, oil, form release agents and curing compounds.
Stucco and EIFS: Finishes may be applied directly to the cured cementitious coat. If additives are present in the stucco, a test patch shall be made and bond strength checked prior to application. The primer may be applied to reduce wall suction.
Concrete: Shall have cured a minimum of 28 days prior to application of the finishes. If form release agents or curing compounds are present on the concrete surface, the surface shall be thoroughly washed with muriatic acid and flushed to remove residual acid. All projections shall be removed and small voids filled and primer applied to the surface prior to finish.
Masonry: The masonry surface, with joints, struck flush, shall be "skim coated" to produce a smooth, level surface.
Mixing - Thoroughly mix PAF PW finish with a Goldblatt Jiffler Mixer until a uniform workable consistency is attained. When mixing color paks, check both pail and color pak containers to make sure the bases on both labels match. Pour the color pak into the pail and rinse the residual from the color pak container into the pail. Do not add more than 10 oz (including the color pak) of water into the pail.
Application:
Using a stainless steel trowel, apply and level a coat to a uniform thickness - approximately 1-1/2 times the largest aggregate. Maintain wet edge for uniformity of color and texture. Then, pull across the rough application coat using a horizontal trowel motion and develop a uniform thickness no greater than the largest aggregate of the material. The textures are achieved by uniform hand motion and/or type of tool used.
Clean Up:
Clean tools with water while the finishes are still wet.
Maintenance - All PAF PW finishes are designed to require low maintenance. However, as with all building products, some cleaning may be required.
Storage:
Finishes must be stored at 4 °C (40 °F) or above in tightly sealed containers out of direct sunlight.
Cautions and Limitations:
-
Finishes must not be used on exposed exterior horizontal surfaces. Minimum slope is 6 in12 which is 27°. The maximum length of slope is 305 mm (12 in).
-
PAF Plus finishes must never be used alone in an exterior application over any type of gypsum board, foam plastic or other insulation board.
-
Finishes shall not be returned into any sealant joint. Instead, a coat of colored primer or paint should be used on any surface to receive sealant. Contact sealant manufacturer for primer requirements.
-
Not suitable for application in an EIFS system.
