Description:
Western 1-Kote Gray Concentrate is a fiber reinforced, modified portland cement exterior plaster. The product may be used in conjunction with various foam substrates to create wall assemblies with higher R-values and improved crack and water resistance. Western 1-Kote Gray Concentrate may also be used over wood or gypsum backing and may be utilized for a scratch and/or brown coat application for a conventional stucco system. It is available in a “standard” as well as a “premium” blend.

 

Packaging:

  • Western 1-Kote Gray Concentrate is packaged in 80 lb / 36.29 kg bags.

  • 40 bags per pallet. 

 

Product Uses:
Western 1-Kote Gray Concentrate is intended for use as:

  • A one-coat stucco basecoat over approved lath assemblies

  • A scratch and/or brown coat in conventional stucco systems

  • Application over approved substrates in accordance with IAPMO ER-382

Benefits:

  • The system may be utilized over a variety of substrates, affording architects and builders design flexibility.

  • The system provides the architect and builder with a cost-effective means of providing a hard wall substrate plus higher insulation characteristics.

  • May be used as a scratch and brown coat for conventional systems.

Coverage:

  • Approximately 72 square feet @ 3/8" thickness.

  • Approximately 54 square feet @ 1/2" thickness.

Mixing:
Western 1-Kote Gray Concentrate is mixed with two hundred pounds (200 lb), approximately sixteen (16) #2 shovels, of ASTM rated plaster sand and approximately four (4) gallons of potable water. Each sack shall mix for a minimum of five (5) minutes. Continuous batching is an acceptable practice. Care shall be taken to provide sufficient mixing time when additional sacks are added to a batch to ensure uniform consistency.

Application:
Western 1-Kote Gray Concentrate is applied by approved applicators.  The material may be applied by hand or plaster pump. Specific minimum thickness is required for application over various substrates.  Consult product specifications and the IAPMO Evaluation Report #382 for specific details.  The minimum thickness over any substrate, when used in conjunction with the when used in conjunction with the Western 1-Kote System, is three-eighths (3/8”) of an inch.

Curing:
The product requires a minimum of forty-eight (48) hours moist curing.  Environmental conditions such as heat, wind and low humidity will require additional curing.

Finishing:
A variety of finishes such as Western Exterior Stucco, standard acrylic paint and Premium Acrylic Finish (PAF) may be applied over Western 1-Kote Gray Concentrate. The recommendations of the finish coat manufacturer shall be followed regarding base coat preparation, bonding, application and curing of their product.

Limitations:
Do not apply when surface or ambient temperatures are at or below 40°F / 4.4°C or above 100°F / 38°C. Do not apply to surfaces that are contaminated with bond breakers, oils or other matter that may affect the performance of the product. Do not apply Western 1-Kote Gray Concentrate if conditions are expected to be above or below the specified temperature range within 24 hours of application. Do not add additional ingredients to Western 1-Kote Gray Concentrate without specific written approval from an authorized manufacturer of Western Blended Products.

Storage:
Western 1-Kote Gray Concentrate shall be kept indoors or if stored outdoors, shall be adequately covered to keep dry and be stored off the ground.

Conditions of Use and Limited Warranty:

Specifications for this product are based on optimal environmental conditions (70°F ambient temperature with 50% humidity) for preparation, mixing, application and curing. Specification parameters may vary as environmental conditions change. Consult the product’s Safety Data Sheet or GHS Section located on the product package for hazard identification and first aid measures. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

Western Blended Products (WBP) warrants that its products are of merchantable quality and suitable for the general purpose for which they are intended when applied in accordance with WBP instructions. The manufacturers of WBP products do not warrant the products to be suitable for any purpose or use other than that for which they are intended. Liability under this warranty is limited to supplying new material without charge or, at the option of the manufacturer of the WBP product, refunding the purchase price. In the event of a claim under this warranty, written notice must be provided to the originating plant of the WBP product at the address shown herein. This limited warranty is issued and accepted in lieu of all other express warranties and expressly excludes liability for consequential damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts; therefore, the above limitations or exclusions may not apply.
