Product Information

Description:
Western 1-Kote Premium Gray Concentrate is a fiber reinforced, modified portland cement exterior plaster formulated for enhanced performance characteristics. The product may be used in conjunction with various foam substrates to create wall assemblies with higher R-values and improved crack and water resistance. Western 1-Kote Premium Gray Concentrate may also be used over wood or gypsum backing and may be utilized for a scratch and/or brown coat application for a conventional stucco system.

Western 1-Kote Premium Gray Concentrate features a low shrinkage formulation, enhanced fiber content and accelerated set characteristics designed to improve crack resistance and finish readiness.

Packaging:

  • Western 1-Kote Premium Gray Concentrate is packaged in 80 lb / 36.29 kg bags.

  • 40 bags per pallet.

Product Uses:

  • Western 1-Kote Premium Gray Concentrate is intended for use as:

  • A one-coat stucco basecoat over approved lath assemblies

  • A scratch and/or brown coat in conventional stucco systems

  • Application over approved substrates in accordance with IAPMO ER-382

Benefits:

  • Low shrinkage formulation designed to reduce drying shrinkage and enhance crack resistance characteristics.

  • Enhanced fiber reinforcement for improved tensile strength and crack control.

  • Reduced alkalinity profile (pH <10 at 3 days) to improve compatibility and readiness for application of suitable finish coats.

  • Accelerated set characteristics with an approximate 40-minute working time under standard environmental conditions (70°F / 50% RH).

  • May be utilized over a variety of substrates affording architects and builders design flexibility.

  • Provides a cost-effective hard wall substrate with enhanced insulation characteristics when used in appropriate wall assemblies.

  • May be used as a scratch and brown coat for conventional systems.

  • Pot life may vary depending on ambient temperature, substrate temperature and jobsite conditions.

Coverage:

  • Approximately 72 square feet @ 3/8" thickness.

  • Approximately 54 square feet @ 1/2" thickness.

Coverage may vary depending on substrate condition and application methods.

Mixing:
Western 1-Kote Premium Gray Concentrate is mixed with two hundred pounds (200 lb), approximately sixteen (16) #2 shovels, of ASTM rated plaster sand and approximately four (4) gallons of potable water.

Each sack shall mix for a minimum of five (5) minutes. Continuous batching is an acceptable practice. Care shall be taken to provide sufficient mixing time when additional sacks are added to a batch to ensure uniform consistency.

Application:
Western 1-Kote Premium Gray Concentrate is applied by approved applicators. The material may be applied by hand or plaster pump. Specific minimum thickness is required for application over various substrates. Consult product specifications and the IAPMO Evaluation Report #382 for specific details.

The minimum thickness over any substrate, when used in conjunction with the Western 1-Kote System, is three-eighths (3/8”) of an inch.

Curing:
The product requires a minimum of forty-eight (48) hours moist curing. Environmental conditions such as heat, wind and low humidity will require additional curing.

Finishing:
A variety of finishes such as Western Exterior Stucco, standard acrylic paint and Premium Acrylic Finish (PAF) may be applied over Western 1-Kote Premium Gray Concentrate. The recommendations of the finish coat manufacturer shall be followed regarding basecoat preparation, bonding, application and curing of their product.

Limitations:
