Product Information

Description:
Western One-Pass Plaster is a factory sanded, premium blended plaster base coat for conventional stucco systems. As an alternative to typical “Scratch” and “Brown” individual coatings, Western One-Pass Plaster is designed to be applied One-Pass to the full thickness of 3/4” to 7/8” when applied in accordance with Western Blended Products application instructions. Western One-Pass Plaster is designed to be a pump grade product with excellent flow that does not require additional additives (Hi-Flow). The product may also be applied manually. Western One-Pass Plaster develops higher PSI strengths than standard Plastic Cement. A fibered version of Western One-Pass Plaster is also available per request.

Packaging:
This product is packaged in 80 lb / 36.29 kg bags. Pallet contains 42 sacks.

Benefits:

  • Just add water.

  • One-Pass installation from 3/4” to 7/8” full thickness.

  • Excellent flow for pumping (Hi-Flow).

  • Less equipment packing issues

  • Faster mixing cycles than 50/50 mixes of Portland and Plastic Cements.

  • Higher strengths than Plastic cement.

Mixing:
Each bag of Western One-Pass Plaster Cement is mixed with 1.25 to 1.5 gallons of clean, potable water. Mixing time in a mechanical mixer shall be two (2) to three (3) minutes minimum per bag.  Care shall be taken when continuous batching, that each bag is allowed the minimum mixing time.

Coverage:
Scratch and Brown Applications:

  • 3/8” Thickness: Approximately 2.75 sq. yds. (2.3 sq. meters).

One-Pass Applications:

  • 1/2” Thickness: Approximately 2.0 sq. yds. (1.7 meters sq. meters).

  • 3/4” Thickness: Approximately 1.37 sq. yds. (1.15 sq. meters).

  • 7/8” Thickness: Approximately 1.17  sq. yds. (0.98 sq. meters).

Application:
This product may be applied by hand or machine. Application methods, acceptable substrates and total applied thickness shall meet the requirements set forth in ASTM C926. This product may be used in a standard scratch and brown application; or as an alternative One-Pass application by gradually building the coating until the desired allowable thickness is obtained. Once the full thickness is achieved, walls must be leveled without overworking the material. The stucco shall be hard floated to promote densification. The Alternate Method of Application provides a better bond between coats, improves curing and speeds completion times.  Alternate method of application is not suggested for open-frame construction.

Curing:
This product requires a minimum of forty-eight (48) hours moist curing as noted in IBC Section 2512.6 or 2512.8.2 for the Alternative Method of Application. Environmental conditions such a heat, wind and low humidity all require liberal curing.

Finishing:
A variety of finishes such as Western Exterior Stucco, Premium Acrylic Finish (PAF), WBP Exterior Stucco Finishes, standard acrylic paints or elastomeric coatings may be applied over the fully cured base coat. The recommendations of the finish coat manufacturer shall be followed regarding base coat preparation, bonding, application and curing of their product.

Limitations:
When applied by machine, well maintained, proper equipment must be used when applying the material. The material flow may vary in project applications over five stories high, or by utilizing hose assemblies over 300’ in length. Do not over work the material. Do not wet float the brown coat.
